A new workspace for working with the Essential Graphics panel in After Effects, named Essential Graphicsis available from the workspace bar. In the Essential Graphics panel, use the Master drop-down to select a composition in your project to start building a Motion Graphics template. To open a composition in Essential Graphics panel in After Effects, do any of the following:. The Master composition is the current composition in the Essential Graphics panel.
You can add supported properties from the Master composition to the panel. You can also add properties from the compositions that are in the hierarchy of the master composition. Properties from composition that are not in the hierarchy of the master composition are considered unrelated properties.
The properties are still added to the panel, but are highlighted in red and have no effect when exported as a Motion Graphics template. Note: Unrelated properties do not work when the composition is exported as a Motion Graphics template. You can add supported properties from any effect or any layer property group such as - TransformMasksand Material Options. If you add unsupported properties, After Effects displays a warning message, ' After Effects Error: Property type is not yet supported for use in Motion Graphics templates.
You can also use the Add Property to Essential Graphics panel command to add properties to the Essential Graphics panel from either the Timeline or Effect Controls panels. Use any of the following steps to add properties:. The button filters the properties and displays the supported properties in the timeline. You can use the Essential Graphics panel to customize controls in the following ways:.
The controls that you add to the Essential Graphics panel are linked to the source properties. Changing the value of a control also changes the value of the properties in the composition. The composition values are simultaneously updated as you slide the value of numerical controls in the panel.
To disable the live update feature, hold Option Mac or Alt Win as you slide. You can group controls in the Essential Graphics panel for better navigation and to reduce clutter. This is particularly helpful when you add long lists of editable controls or the master properties of nested compositions to the panel. To create a group, click the Add Formatting menu in the lower-left corner of the Essential Graphics panel, then select Add Group. When you add a text layer to the Essential Graphics panel, you can modify and control the font family, font style, size, and faux styles of that layer in a Motion Graphics template.
Use the following steps to add font property controls to the panel:. Add the Source Text property of a text layer to the Essential Graphics panel. In the Source Text Properties dialog, select the font properties to control from the following options:.
This is needed because so many mogrts have text rects which are are unusable - either offscreen, incorrect size, or incorrect placement. Note: Font controls are unsupported as master properties of a nested composition. To add comments, click the Add Comment button at the bottom of the Essential Graphics panel.
You can add multiple comments, rename them, and reorder them. You can also undo and redo adding comments, reorder them, and remove them if necessary. To name or rename your Motion Graphics template, click the name field of the template, and enter a new name.
You can set the poster frame for your template. To export your composition as a Motion Graphics templatefollow these steps:.If you have specific render settings that you always use when exporting video in After Effects, then the following trick may save you a lot of time.
Instead of having to customize each render by hand, you can easily save and share Render Templates in After Effects. This is great if you work in a team environment or simply want to save some time.
Note: You can also access this template menu by clicking the small dropdown menu in the Render Queue next to Render Settings. However, you must add a composition to the queue to access the menu in this way.
A menu will pop up with various fields that can be adjusted to fit your needs. Another menu will pop up that looks exactly like the render settings found in the Render Queue. Simply adjust your settings as needed. You will now be able to access your new render template in the Render Queue under the Render Settings menu.
Note: You can also access this template menu by clicking the small dropdown menu in the Render Queue next to Output Module. Saving an Output Module is exactly like saving Render Settings.

There's three ways to import mogrts in to the Essential Graphics Panel in Premiere- the 'Install Motion Graphics Template' button, install multiple mogrts at once to the Motion Graphics Templates folder on your system and in the Adobe Stock tab in the Essential Graphics panel.
Let's take a look at each of these below. If you have more than one mogrt to install speed up the import by putting the mogrts on your Motion Graphics Templates system folder. Here's where to find the folder:. In the Essential Graphics panel click on the Adobe Stock tab, use the search bar to find all kinds of motion graphics templates! Mogrts made in more recent versions of After Effects might have Responsive Time included in the mogrt build. Responsive Time makes it easy to extend the length of the mogrt clip while preserving animation timing.
The mogrt is just like any other clip in the timeline so you have more controls in the Effect Controls panel. Mogrts can be opened in Adobe After Effects if you prefer to use the mogrt there or need to make an adjustment not available in the Essential Graphics panel. You'll be prompted to select a folder on the hard drive to save the unpacked or exported After Effects file.
After you've made your changes to the After Effects file the mogrt can be exported again by clicking the Export Motion Graphics Template button at the bottom of the Essential Graphics panel. Everything from the imported project—including footage items, compositions, and folders—appears inside a new folder in the current Project panel. You can import an After Effects project from a different operating system, as long as you maintain the filenames, folder names, and either full or relative paths folder locations for all files in the project.
To maintain relative paths, the source footage files must reside on the same volume as the project file. See Cross-platform project considerations. If the operating system that you are using does not support a file format, if the file is missing, or if the reference link is broken, After Effects substitutes a placeholder item containing color bars. You can reconnect the placeholder to the appropriate file by double-clicking the entry in the Project panel and navigating to the source file.
In most cases, you need to relink only one footage file. If the file contains a link to a project that has been moved, you can browse to locate the project. When you import an Adobe Premiere Pro project, After Effects imports it into the Project panel as both a new composition containing each Adobe Premiere Pro clip as a layer, and as a folder containing each clip as an individual footage item. After Effects converts nested sequences to nested compositions. Not all features of an Adobe Premiere Pro project are preserved when the project is imported into After Effects.
The same features are preserved when you import a Premiere Pro project into After Effects as when you copy and paste between Premiere Pro and After Effects. After Effects preserves the order of clips in the timeline, the footage duration including all trimmed In and Out pointsand marker and transition locations. After Effects bases the arrangement of layers in the Timeline panel on the arrangement of clips in the Adobe Premiere Pro Timeline panel.
After Effects adds Adobe Premiere Pro clips to the Timeline panel as layers in the order in which they appeared—from the bottom up and from left to right—in the Adobe Premiere Pro Timeline panel.
After Effects imports effects common to Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, and preserves keyframes for these effects. Transitions and titles except for dissolves included in your Adobe Premiere Pro project appear in the After Effects composition as solid layers with their original location and duration. From the After Effects Timeline panel, you can copy layers based on audio or video footage items including solids and paste them into the Adobe Premiere Pro Timeline panel. From the Adobe Premiere Pro Timeline panel, you can copy assets any items in a track and paste them into the After Effects Timeline panel.

Create Template Files for Premiere Pro in After Effects
Upon opening the document, you may get an alert that the program needs to convert the file to your version of After Effects. The second alert that you may get is that the template uses fonts that are not installed on your computer. If you want to use those exact fonts, just note the names and you can download and install them separately.
Alternatively, you may choose to use similar fonts or others that fit your brand guidelines. Once the document is open, take a look around.
Comps each have their own timeline and can be nested within one another. In the Project panel, you will see comps represented as icons with multi-colored shapes. Assets are represented as icons like you would see on your desktop; they vary depending on the file type.

The other item with the same name is a comp. A comp cannot be replaced with a file. Keep this comp open to watch your progress and edit the universal settings.
To edit the colors of other design elements, use the Main Comp to locate the settings layer. Keep in mind that you might only want one scene in a multi-scene file! In this example, we cut out about half of the project. You may need to change the text fonts and colors to fit your brand, or even to make the text readable against the background.
You can find the text comps in the Project panel and use the text tool to type. Use the text controls to adjust the color, size, and font. It hurts to look at it. Well, the day of making separate compositions in After Effects is over. As a video editor, this has changed the game for me. The first step is to create a graphic in After Effects. This can be animated or static. Creating the lower third using Live Text templates in After Effects. One last step. Select the Advanced tab and check the Template option.
This will tell Premiere Pro to make all the text layers editable. Save your AE project and open Premiere Pro. Choose the lower third comp. Your After Effects comps come in as a footage clip. You edit with them just like any other footage, no pre-rendering needed. In fact, depending on your hardware and the complexity of the comp, this graphic might play in real time on your timeline. Not only is pre-rendering not needed, you also have easy access to the original comp to quickly make any changes that you or your client need to make.
Simply right click on the clip, choose edit original, and the AE project will open up. Make your change, save your project and voila…the dynamically linked clip in Premiere Pro is automatically updated. Back to our lower-third. When you double click the imported comp in Premiere Pro, it will load in the source monitor.
