SWR 1. I use. Reception equal to 30' vertical at base. Very pleased!! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months. The unfortunately named D is not designed for transmission on the MHz band, but there is in fact an SWR dip between and that I find usable. In fact, I like the results on all bands so much I even mounted this little mobile discone at the top of my tower! In my installation the SWR is near 1. I mounted the D atop my tower by sliding it into a short length of PVC pipe and hose-clamping the bottom end of the PVC to the top of the tower mast.
This antenna weighs almost nothing, and disappears against the sky. I had the larger Diamond DJ up there first, and that one does work more bands - including 28, 50 and MHz - but the DJ occupied more space than I could spare Height matters, and even a J-Pole would work wonders at 40 or 50 feet, but the compact D is multiband and does provide some gain.
If you squint you can just about see the D in pictures of my beam posted via www. K6QT Rating: Wonderful antenna! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. This is a fairly new antenna for me two weeksbut I love it exquisitely! I have tried other antennas rated at 2. With other antennas I usually have a little fading, with this one, none.
The only difference between antennas is the one I happen to screw in to the one mount.Skip to main content of results for " mhz antenna".

Yes, it does perform noticeably better than the factory rubber ducks. Only marginally better, but in all honesty, noticeably better.
My biggest complaints, and the reason the Diamond lays neglected and unused is because it gets bent and tweaked every which way every time it is touched wrong. It doesn't take much to bend it and it always bends in the same place, making me believe that it will eventually fail in that location. That, combined with the only marginal performance improvement leads me to the opinion that this antenna is way too expensive for what I get from it.
The Yaesu duck is a FAR better bang for my buck. Since I have the stock antennas for all three radios along with this Diamond, I decided to do a more objective, side by side comparison of them. I found that the Diamond has nearly dead-flat SWR on all three bands, while the ducks each landed between 1. The Diamond shows slightly better radiation on my signal strength meter than the ducks as well.
The most interesting data to me though was the rankings of the 3 stock antennas. The D74 and VX-6 antennas are nearly indistinguishable in performance. Since I did these tests, my Diamond antenna has been laying on my window sill while I have been stacking up the Yaesu antennas like cordwood. I placed the on my Kenwood TH-D74A and what a difference in my being able to access repeaters further out. This would include D-Star repeaters where I used to have the radio on the high setting, I now am able to access with on a lower power setting.
I like that the comes with a rubber washer for in between the antenna and the HT. I will only keep the supplied rubber duck as a backup. Thanks to the other reviews on this antenna. A prime antenna for a prime rig. Always had good results with this antenna. No doubt the adapter introduces some reflection, so actual performance will be slightly better than reported here. Also see my review of the Diamond SRH77CA for comparison, as those tests were done with the same test setup on the same day.
I noticed right away being able to hit the repeaters in the area NYC solidly with lower power than with the stock antenna. Where I used to have to run on high power for full quieting 5WI can now hit with low power 0.
The radio doesn't fit in the shirt pocket anymore, but being able to run all day on a battery charge is very nice. N4ZN Rating: Meh Time Owned: 0 to 3 months. Guess it would make a decent replacement to a lost, or broken, OEM duck.
I bought one along with the purchase of a yeasu vx-6r, due to reading reviews posted here.I woke up this morning and my service was cut off.
I called and of course there is nothing they can do. Me being me I hung up. There was no point in me talking to them anymore. I plan on sending my boxes back and tell everyone I know that they are bad and their customer service sucks. Service was turned off one full day prior. No final bill was ever received. We received 3 emails telling us equipment retrieval kits were on the way and we never received them. I called DirecTV and after waiting for an eternity, was told their policy had just changed and they no longer send out retrieval boxes.
Instead you are to take all equipment to FedEx and they will know what to do with them. We went to FedEx and waited 40 minutes while the FedEx staff figured out how to go about entering each serial number into their system in the correct place in order to ship the equipment back. When I called to express our confusion over the matter of returning the equipment, the DirecTV person I spoke with (named Lucas) hung up on me.
Now I'm trying to get a copy of our final bill. I have made 3 phone calls, the most recent one lasting 57 minutes just to be told that since we are set up to have the bills mailed U. We have been DirecTV customers for several years but never again. Helpful Be the first one to find this review helpful How do I know I can trust these reviews about DIRECTV. After numerous phone calls, I was told eventually that I owed nothing and was actually owed a small refund.
Well, the bills kept coming and I kept calling. Now I'm told they have no record of anyone telling me that I owed nothing. I will pay their bill and hopefully I'll be rid of this company. It is no longer worth the hours I have to spend on the phone to try and rectify the problem. Avoid this company at all costs. I was told all was fixed. Then when they came out to do the install everything was wrong. I have done away with them and I am now paying more with DISH but would rather pay more than to deal with DirecTV and all of their lies. So you call about how high your bill is and they give you a break on your bill and even offer you HBO or one of what they call (premium channels).
So they tell you to call back in a year to see what they can do for you. They tell you they can give you a lesser package for less money. I already have the second to lowest package they have.
