Also, you can find some comments on the dot pitch definition and its decline in usage. PPI is a widely used acronym in tech forums on the Internet, especially those focused on display technology and smartphones. The technical PPI definition is Pixels Per Inchand it represents a measurement of the pixel density of a screen or a digital image.
The density is measured as the number of pixels that fit on a 1 inch line, hence the name. This measurement is based on the fact that screens and images, despite being 2D, have generally the same density along any of the two main axes. There are other measurements of pixels density, such as pixel per square inch, that involve calculating the area of a rectangle that is the screen. Also worth mentioning is the fact that our pixel density calculator assumes square pixels.
It is important to note that for calculating PPI we need something that has a physical sizenot a virtual file. For example, a screen or a printed picture has a fixed physical size so it makes sense to calculate how many pixels per inch there are in such an object.
PPI Calculator (Pixels Per Inch)
However, when we're talking about a digital image in a computer, PPI cannot be computed since the digital image varies in size depending on the level of zoom, the size of the screen, etc. The most common one is to calculate it from the diagonal screen size in inches or cm and the number of pixels along the vertical and horizontal edges of the display. Then, you can calculate the PPI as the ratio between the number of pixels along the diagonal and the diagonal screen size:.
You probably noticed that you can also enter the width and height of the display into the PPI calculator. You can use these values instead of the diagonal size of the screen and it will internally calculate the length of the diagonal using the Pythagorean theorem.
Remember that the aspect ratio must be the same for both, that is the size of the screen and its resolution. Our pixel density calculator also finds the total number of pixels on the display expressed in megapixels millions of pixels, symbol: Mpx. This value is found as the product of the vertical and horizontal amount of pixels, which is then divided by the total area to give another measure of the pixel density, in this case how many pixels per inch squared.
The last number that you can find with our calculator is the dot pitch - the distance between two pixels' centers. This is calculated as the inverse of PPI. If PPI is a measure of the density of pixels in a given length, dot pitch is the exact opposite: is the distance between two fixed pixels or dots.
Note that we are using dots and pixels interchangeably but this might not always be the case. The dot pitch is somewhat forgotten and its value is mostly not used due to the advancements of modern technology.
Back in the days when smartphones and even computer monitors had resolutions of less than pixels in both the vertical and horizontal direction, the usage of dot pitch was convenient and understandable. Now that our devices have a couple of thousand pixels in less than 5 inches making the dot pitch values ridiculously small and hard to understand intuitively.
This was the doom of dot pitch and the rise of PPI as the new de-facto standard. And that's the reason dot pitch is fading out of the mainstream scene, and why most people don't know what the dot pitch definition is. Before we move to an example of use of the calculator, we must mention DPI. However, they do it in subtly different ways, or at least they used to.
DPI is, as we mentioned before, stands for "dots per inch" and it's analogous to PPI in the sense that they both measure how "grainy" an image is.
As the name suggests, dots per inch measures the number of points that exist in the length equivalent to 1 inch on average. It will then calculate what your specific DPI is. The sensitivity and FOV are found in the Overwatch game launcher itself. Feel is far more important than the specific numbers.
Rather you should try to work within the constraints of the in-game sensitivity if possible, only changing your mouse settings if necessary. The biggest question most people ask is where their sensitivity should be in order to improve. I myself have looked into this, as I was quite good at console shooters, but found my aim slightly off on PC, without the aim assist. The general consensus is to put your sensitivity as low as possible, without hurting your general performance.
Since your mouse will be moving much slower, it will be a lot harder to pass over your target, giving you a lot more time to actually stop on them and aim accurately. Obviously, this also leads to you playing much slower, and you should be gradually increasing your sensitivity as soon as you can.
It should always be a learning process, but erring on the lower end. Start with lower sensitivity and moving slow. There are some tricks in order to manipulate your sensitivity.
The biggest trick is to switch your built-in mouse sensitivity on the fly. Many gaming mice have multiple DPI settings available, and a fast method to swap between them. This is useful in particular for sniping or general aiming down sights. When you aim in you are moving a significantly larger distance with the same movement of the mouse.
Simply aim down your sights, tap your button to change your mouse DPI, and aim.
What’s the average mouse sensitivity for CS:GO pros?
This obviously requires a mouse with the settings available, and an easy way to swap between two settings. It even has a crosshair on it! Most people agree that in order to improve you should set your sensitivity as low as possible, then increase it gradually. If you can get used to each sensitivity as you go, you should improve over time. If you want to actually use DPI to make yourself better, many mice come with easy buttons to change your DPI settings on the fly. Make use of that to decrease your sensitivity drastically while you aim down sites.
But when it comes down to it, most of your improvement will come down to just that, improvement. Play a lot and test different settings to find what you love!

Featured Posts Valorant vs.Low and High sensitivities are based on the Base sensitivity option value. For example, if you're using a very high mouse sensor resolution DPI setting, changing the Base sensitivity option value can allow you to narrow in on good sensitivities in less steps.
Low sensitivity in the current step will divide it by the Divisor option value and set it as the new Low sensitivity for the next step, and the new High sensitivity will be the average of the Low and High sensitivities of the current step. High sensitivity in the current step will multiply it by the Multiplier option value and set it as the new High sensitivity for the next step, and the new Low sensitivity will be the average of the Low and High sensitivities of the current step.
Divisor and Multiplier option values will be progressively reduced based on the Step adjustment option value and the number of steps taken. The point is to make the search more accurate by making the steps progressively more narrow. Setting the Step adjustment option value to 1 will disable it, and setting it closer to 0 will make the steps narrower.
Switch key option is used to set the key binding for switching between the two sensitivities to be tested in the current step. The first active sensitivity will always be from the left column, and the second will always be from the right. There will be a console message telling which sensitivity is currently active.
Auto copy option is enabled, the console commands for setting the sensitivities in-game will be copied to the clipboard automatically Flash support requiredotherwise you will need to copy the commands by hand. Blinded test option is enabled, the Low and High sensitivity settings will be renamed to A and Band their values will be hidden and randomly reversed to try to make the testing more objective.
This is a tool to help finding the best individual mouse sensitivity setting for CS players. It simplifies and improves the steps used in this method video.
The point of the method is to try to be more objective in comparing different sensitivities. You test and compare both settings in-game and then return to the tool and select which setting worked better. The tool then gives you a new command to enter into the console and you repeat the process until you've found the sensitivity that is the most accurate.
Mouse over the tool options to see a detailed description of each option. The default settings should work in most cases. The switch key can be customized in tool options. You can unbind the key after the test by entering unbind " " in the console. The tool will calculate two new sensitivity settings and give you the console command to set them in game. The difficulty and length of testing depends on what you want, but it's important to test both sensitivity settings in the same way.

Most computer games with mouse aiming have a sensitivity value that decides how sensitive your aim is to your hand movement. If you want your aim to be consistent, you want the same sensitivity across all games so you don't have to relearn your aim for each new game.
Unfortunately, mouse sensitivity is a tricky business. Most games have their own sensitivity number, so you cannot just copy the sensitivity value from one game to another. Besides, your mouse DPI setting which you can change in your mouse software also influences your actual sensitivity, making it hard to compare your sensitivity with others.
Some games, such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, even make your in-game FOV field of view setting influence your sensitivity, which further complicates thing. This calculator helps you convert mouse sensitivity between games. Just pick your games and enter your sensitivity.
